New Trend: There's no better time to be an actor outside of LA!

This is a great time to be an actor outside of Los Angeles! There are now more shows shooting outside of Los Angeles than ever before because of new creative possibilities and tax incentives that states are offering to productions. States offer various tax incentives for productions to shoot in their state.

This means that if they spend a certain amount of the film or TV budget there, the state gives them a certain % back. Some of the busier States that have been getting a lot of film production due to the tax incentives are Louisiana (over 100 films shot there last year!) , New York, New Mexico , Pittsburgh PA, Atlanta Georgia, North Carolina, and now Florida and Ohio is picking up a lot of films slated to be shot there. Michigan just capped its incentives to $25 million and offered the largest tax rebate at 40%! Puerto Rico has the largest incentives and recently raised their tax incentives to 40%. They also went from $15 to $50 million to give back which is a great increase.

There were over 80 TV Pilots shot this season. Only about 48 of those pilots were shot in Los Angeles. Below is a list of pilots that were shot around the country outside of Los Angeles. Some of you may of auditioned for these. Lets hope the pilots get picked up and that there will be more work and roles in your state for you. It's important to remember that a lot of these producers and casting directors WANT to find local talent to be in their shows. Reason being, they want to save money hiring someone local, rather than bringing an actor in from Los Angeles and pay for all their expenses. This is why it's important to do local plays, study and learn as much as you can as a local actor about acting and the "ART" of auditioning . Being prepared and booking the role is now possible more than ever. Keep working hard.
